Head of the Weir 2010

Head of the Weir race yesterday, finished 7th in the kayak category- 1 hr., 36 min. Fifth time doing this race, and every year I say it will be my last, but we keep coming back. Tough paddling this year, strong head winds the entire course, merciless.

Soma Juice

Just finished building up a new 18" rigid Juice 29er. Salsa fork, Chris King headset, SRAM drivetrain, & Bontrager RXL wheels. Can't wait to get it out into the woods.

Kitchen Remodel:: Days 8-15

Finally got around to painting the walls and reinstalling the cabinets. I ordered the countertop for the bar today also, it should be arriving in the next 7-10 days. We are off to Mystic, CT for a few days, so painting the trim and installing new baseboards will have to wait until next weekend.

Kitchen Remodel:: Days 4-7

I had last week off from work so I spent the better part of my vacation scraping the old popcorn texture off the ceilings and finishing the new drywall, messy work but it turned out nice. I should be ready to start painting next weekend.

Kitchen Remodel:: Days 1-3

Last spring we had some plans drawn up for a small addition and remodel of our kitchen, but then realized that it wasn't in the cards at the time. So we've decided to do the remodel in stages, starting with removing the wall between our kitchen and dining room, to open up the kitchen and add some needed counter space where people can sit. I plan on doing the majority of the finish work myself, but we had some pros over the past few days to install 4 LVL beams flush with the ceiling to support the second level. Below are some pictures of what we've accomplished so far:

The new cabinet on the end will hold a microwave and also support one end of the countertop for the bar.
